Obituary of John MacDonald
WW11 Veteran – Peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, at the Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound, on Friday morning, January 18th, 2019. John Howard MacDonald, of Owen Sound, at the age of 94 years. Dearly loved husband for 68 years of the late Marjorie MacDonald (nee Powers). Loving father of Barbara Skitch, of St. Catharines, John MacDonald and his wife, Susan, of Calgary and Jamieson MacDonald, of Owen Sound. Proud grandfather of Shaylyn and Riley. Dear brother of William MacDonald (Anne), of Meaford, Katherine Gill, of Owen Sound and brother-in-law of Rose MacDonald, of Owen Sound. John will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, William and Beatrice MacDonald; his parents-in-law, William and Mary Powers; his son-in-law, Brydon Skitch; his siblings, Archie MacDonald, Helen MacDonald, Jean (Bill) Cole, Barbara MacDonald, Marion (Al) Henderson; his in-laws, Harold Gill, Sadie (Carl) Struke, Ruth (Hugh) Campbell, Margaret (Frank) Dearden, Earl (Donna) Powers, James (Betty) Powers and John (Evelyn) Powers.
A Celebration of Life for John MacDonald will be held in the Chapel of the BRIAN E. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 250 – 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8 (519-376-7492) on Saturday, April 20th, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment in Leith Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
