John Theocharis
Peacefully, at Stratford General Hospital, with family by his
side, on Monday, April 8, 2019, John passed away in his 85th
year. Loving husband of Maria for 55 years and
father of Sam J. (Bessie) Theocharis. Cherished Papou of Mia
& Maggie. Beloved son of the late Stamatoula
& Sotirios Theocharis. Dear brother of Peter (Mahe)
Theocharis & Andy (Angela) Theocharis. John will be
remembered by his nephews Sam P. (Mary) Theocharis and their sons
Peter & Tom, and John A. (Anna) Theocharis and their daughters
Angelica & Andrea and the many relatives in Greece and friends
he made in Canada.
John or “Johnny” as most knew him by, was a
man of strong family values. He was born in Argos, Greece in
1934 and like many immigrants during this period, he grew up in harsh
conditions, especially during the war. John immigrated to
Canada for a better life in 1960 arriving in Halifax. He
settled in London, Ontario first and then moved to Stratford,
Ontario. John was a dedicated entrepreneur with a strong
work ethic. He was a longtime proprietor and restauranteur,
operating the Limelight Restaurant and Woody’s Bar &
Restaurant in Stratford, Ontario, including a real estate business,
for more than 50 years with his two brothers Peter and Andy.
He was also a tool and die machinist and used his trade in all facets
of his business and personal life. He was “Mr. Fix
It” and cherished learning new things. He was a private man
who loved his family with the up most respect and honour. He was an
honest man who’s generosity and support was endless to all
his family and friends he loved.

Thompson and wonderful staff, Dr. Claude Kortas and Dr. Vasiliki
Papukna and the entire amazing CCAC team and the Stratford
General Hospital team for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held at the Logan Funeral
Home, 371 Dundas St., on Thursday from 7-9pm (Prayers
at 8:30pm).
Funeral service will be conducted in the Holy
Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Rd. W., on
Friday, April 12, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Demetre Mouselimis
officiating.
Interment in Woodland Cemetery.
Those wishing to make donations in memory of
“Johnny”, can make a donation to the Holy Trinity
Greek Orthodox Church or London Health
Sciences.
A tree will be planted as a living memorial to
John S. Theocharis
