Obituary of John Robert Henderson
Henderson, John “Dart”, suddenly at his home in Erin in his 63rd year. Friend to Lynn Bennett. Proud loving father to Chris (Shannon), Kerri (Travis), and Kelly (Steve). Loved brother of Mary (Colin) Henderson, Jim (Gail), Molly (Al) Moore, Bonnie (Andy) Malenfant, David (Helene), and Alice (Randy) Brophy. Devoted and caring Grandpa to Leah, Erin and Blake. John will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews as uncle Duck. John will be remembered by Barbara to whom he was married for 29 years. Will be missed by Jonny, Rob (Amanda) and Jennifer Fuller. John is predeceased by his parents John and Bernice Henderson.
John, known for his love and dedication to the game of golf, was a familiar face around North Halton for more than thirty years. John started cleaning clubs in back of the Pro Shop when he was twelve years old. Then, assistant to his mentor Don Findley, working his way up to Club Pro in 1980, he quickly established a strong Junior clinic, grooming many young golfers for achievement far beyond North Halton. He later went on to be the director of golf at Hornby Golf Club for many years. John is described as someone with a great sense of humour, a big heart, family man and just an all around wonderful person. John made an impact on the lives of everyone he met, and will be deeply missed by all. A Celebration of Life will take place at North Halton Golf and Country Club on Thursday, April 18, at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation
