Joe D Cummings April 19 2019

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Joseph “Joe” Dougald Cummings which occurred on Friday, April 19th, 2019. Born 1950, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Dougald and Marion (McKenna) Cummings. Joe worked for over 50 years at John Flood and Sons with many of those years spent at Moosehead Breweries. He was a quiet man who loved politics, western movies and Alpine beer. He was most proud of his girls’ successes and especially of his grandchildren who affectionately called him Grandpa and Bumpa.
Joe is survived by his daughters Christine Roy (Nick) of Saint John, Laura Flewelling (David) of Saint John; brother John Cummings (Carol) of Quispamsis; sister Anna Moran of Quispamsis; grandchildren Madelaine, Ben and Harper; Anita’s brothers and sisters and their families, many relatives on PEI as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his wife Anita in 2010.
Joe loved his red tab Levi’s jeans and plaid shirts. We invite everyone to dress casually for his visitation and service as there was nothing Joe hated more than getting dressed up.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Tuesday, April 23rd from 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday, April 24th at 2 p.m. followed by an interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joe may be made to St. John the Baptist – King Edward School, Camp Kerry Atlantic or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
