James Walter Andow
November 7, 1944 – November 23, 2018
With deep sorrow and loving hearts, we said goodbye to our dear Jimmy at Carleton Manor on Friday, November 23rd, 2018. He was met with great anticipation at Heaven’s Gate by his Mum, Dad, Sister and baby brother.
He leaves behind his soul-mate and wife, Anna (Thomas), children, John (Katie), Jill (John), David (Krissy), Mary Jo (Brian) and Amy (Michael). Very special grand kids, Shirley & Margaret Andow, Nate & Gracie Andow and Clement & Rory McCain.
Step-mother Ferne Andow; mother and father-in-law Fred & Doreen Thomas; brother and sisters-in-law, Joan & Allan Sheen, Robert & Rachel Thomas and Elbert & Ruthie Belaskie.
Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, other family members and wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his mum and dad, Walter & Mary (Nason) Andow, sister Connie Bickford and baby brother.
Jimmy was born in Moncton on November 7th, 1944. After the war, his family moved to Upper Woodstock and later to St James Street in Woodstock. Jimmy graduated from WHS, teachers college and UNB, earning a B.A. and B.Ed.. He taught and was principal in Woodstock area schools for many years. Also, he and Anna had a wonderful adventure spending a year teaching in the high arctic in Resolute Bay NWT, now Nunavut.
The business bug was always there, so Jimmy retired from the education field and spent many years working in the restaurant, motel and retail sectors. Also along the way, he enjoyed spending time on Woodstock Town Council and as Mayor.
In his later years as his health declined, he enjoyed simple pleasures…mowing the lawn, walking downtown, having fun with his “Tims” friends, sitting on the verandah, coffee in hand with Buster, his kitty, on his lap..enjoying watching the ducks on the river.
We will miss Jimmy so much, but know that he is enjoying himself with Jesus and departed family members.
Goodbye to a precious Dad, husband, grandfather, son-in-law, uncle, brother-in-law and all around great person.
Many thanks to his “Carleton Manor Angels”, and Dr Boyle and Dr. Ghanem, all who provided such great and loving care over the past year.
