It is with great sadness that
we announce the passing of our father, James Foster Hill, on Sunday,
March 31, 2019, in the An Cala, Palliative Care Unit of the Cape
Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Point Edward, he was the son of the late William and
Olive (Grantmyre) Hill.
For 38 years, Dad was a faithful employee of the Sydney Steel
Corporation, retiring in 1992. He had a keen interest in old cars,
trucks and trains, as evidenced by his vast collection of books and
models.
He is survived by his sons, Billy (Liz), at home, David,
Point Edward, Fraser (Vince), Valley Mills and George (Cheryl), South
Bar; daughters, Debbie, at home and Wendy, Point Edward;
grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie (Jonas Cramm), Matthew, Shauna and
Tyson Hill and Arianna and Megan Smith; seven great-grandchildren; and
sister, Muriel Deveaux, New Waterford.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Georgia
(Ferguson), two sons in infancy; son-in-law, Neil Smith; brothers,
Harry Hill, James “Jim” Neal, Calvin “Buck” Neal,
Glenmore Neal, Eddie Morrison and Alex “Buster” Morrison and
sister, Oretha Hill.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held
at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, April 3 at 11 a.m., with Mr.
Gary Grant officiating. Interment will take place at later
date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the An Cala,
Palliative Care Unit or the Feral and Abandoned Cat
Society.
