It is with great sadness that we share the news of our Mother’s passing. Hendrika (Rita) Johanna Holmberg (Tybout) died peacefully on April 19, 2019 after a long and noble battle with cancer. While we are very sad to see her go, we take comfort in knowing that she will be rejoining her beloved husband Robert (Bob), as well as family and friends that have gone before her, including her parents Josina & Jan Tybout, her sister Pieternella and granddaughter Kira. She is survived, to mourn her loss, by children Russ (Paula), Den, Ernie (Glenys), Patsy (Alex), Len & Nancy (Rob), as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren & members of her extended family. Through her life, she displayed an abundance of courage, persistence and independence that served her well, particularly in her later years. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday April 27, 2019 at 10 am from the Faith Lutheran Church in Elliot Lake. The Rev. Henk Willems officiating. Inurnment will take place on Saturday April 27, 2019 at 3:30 pm from the Civic Memorial Cemetery in Sudbury. Pastor Thomas Arth of Christ Lutheran Church in Sudbury officiating. To honour her wishes, memorial contributions to the Faith Lutheran Church or to the Society for Animals in Distress, both located in Elliot Lake, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
The family expresses its appreciation and thanks to those who cared for Mom in her final years and days. Special thanks to Lisa & Vince Thompson, Amylee Herbert, Beth Caron & the attentive & caring nursing staff on the 1st floor of St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Elliot Lake. We would especially like to extend our deepest gratitude to Joanne & David Dodd who provided Mom with loving comfort & support, and who became like family.
