It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend, Gordon Wayne Letandre, aged 70 years, On Sunday March 31, 2019 at St. Boniface Hospital with his family by his side he left to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 50 years Lily Letandre, children Rhonda (Darrell) Shorting, Kathy (Terry) Smith, Elliiot Letandre (Billie). His grandchildren Julie-Anne, Jarrod, Laura-Lee, Avery, Kaitlyn, Tristan, Mary-Lou, Lily, Loren, Ethan, and Great-grandson Leeryn. Siblings, Shirley (Gene) Cranford, John Letandre, Allan (Rita) Letandre and Jerry Letandre. In-laws, Grace Anderson, Myrlene (Norman) Murdock, Andrew (Charlotte) Anderson, Jean Courchene, Bella Anderson (Max), Ruth Woodhouse, Rosemary (Joe) Anderson, Maxine Anderson, Alvin Thompson, and Kathy Anderson, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.
Dad was predeceased by infant son Daryl Letandre, Mother, Mary Letandre, Father, Louis Letandre, Brothers, Lorne, Sherman, and Harvey Letandre. Father In-Law Steve Anderson, Mother In-Law Harriet Anderson, Brothers in-law Charlie Anderson, Romeo Courchene, Archie Woodhouse, Raymond Ross, Elmer Courchene, Clifford Anderson, Sisters In-law Annie Thompson.
Dad was loved by all who knew him, he had a cheerful presence when he would enter a room. Dad was a humble, kind, loving man who worked hard to provide for his family. Dad worked various jobs as a self-employed plumber for 28 years for various First Nations he employed and trained many community members in his trade. He worked maintenance for the United Church in Winnipeg , worked as a crane operator, iron worker, foreman for both Comstock, and Dominion Bridge, Gordon learned how to operate heavy equipment, carpenter, welder, fished, trapped, farmed, and sat as a school board member for Pinaymootang School.
Dad was knowledgeable about the bible and liked various music, and had a collection of L.P. records. He used to love Christmas time, he was known to be listening to Christmas carols before Halloween. Dad always loved meeting with family or friends for coffee and dining out. Family was very important to him, and always wanted family around him. He once shared how having all his children and grandchildren living all around him was the best time of his life. Dad liked sports especially watching his grandchildren’s hockey games and even travelled out of province to watch them. Dad played shortstop with the Fairford Maroons, he also sponsored and coached his own recreational hockey and won many tournaments.
Wake service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 7:00 p.m., Funeral will be held Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at the Fairford House of Prayer. Interment to follow at St. Helen’s Cemetery, Fairford, MB.
