George Thomas Carter
1948-2019
On Sunday 14th
April, George Thomas Carter
finished all he had time to do on this journey and began
another. He came into this world on November 16th, 1948 in
Sackville, born to Thomas and Joyce (White) Carter, the namesake of
his paternal grandfather. Baptized at St. Ann’s in Westcock,
NB he was the godson of Otis and Ora Campbell.
A farmer from the beginning George loved
working the land and raising various types of farm animals.
It was always a joy to watch the pride he had when a new calf was born
or when he had a good crop of potatoes. The grit and
determination that lives in all true farmers was deeply entrenched in
George Carter. His work ethic was well known as he built his
own business working day and night. In 1970 he met his match
when he married Connie Estabrooks, she worked alongside him as they
raised four children. Kelley, Luke, Shannon and Heidi.
George was a history buff and enjoyed
watching a good western movie, Saturday mornings were meant for
watching The Rifleman. He enjoyed traveling the Canadian and
English countryside and even made a trip to Skelton, Yorkshire to
trace his ancestors’ footsteps. One of his most memorable
trips was to Boot Hill; for a western-loving, history buff farmer,
that was pretty much the best place in the world…other than on the
Westcock Marsh or his own dooryard.
George has joined his Mum and Dad and
sisters Patsy and Suzanne in heaven where he has no doubt found some
work to do.
He will be remembered by his wife
Constance Carter (Estabrooks); children, Kelley, Luke (Tracy), Shannon
Harding (Les) and Heidi and grandsons Joey Harding, Cole and Liam
Carter. He was comforted in his last days by dear sisters, Gretchen
(Terrence) Greene, and Sandra (Doug) MacDonald, as well as their
children.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge
