GERRY: Gail Gerry, 81 years of Brandon, Manitoba passed away peacefully on April 18th, 2019 with her husband Gord and family at her side. Gail was born to the late Florence and Walter Kozina on January 6, 1938 in Brandon, Manitoba. She was their third daughter – and sister to Shirley, Buddy, and Noel. She married Gordon Gerry, also of Brandon, on March 8, 1958. They lived together in Brandon for nine years before relocating to Boissevain. Opportunity knocked for Gord to “build the road to nowhere” so they moved to Sundance for two years before returning to Brandon in 1993. Gail is survived by her children Denise (Dwayne) Strate of Swan River and Rob (Cindy) Gerry of Winnipeg. She is also survived by grandchildren Brendon Strate (Lama), Matthew Strate (Courtney), Alyssa Strate, Alexander Gerry, Jordan Gerry, great-granddaughter Aria Strate, sister Buddy (Wes) Ardron, sister-in-law Gladys Woodman as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom lived for her family and friends. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi, and more recently belonged to the Red Hat Society in Brandon. Travelling was a passion she and Dad enjoyed; visiting lands overseas, tropical locations in the Caribbean, cruising, and their favorite hot spot- the Hawaiian Islands. The lazy, hazy days of summer were spent at the Clear Lake cabin. We would like to thank friends for their love and support during this difficult time as well as all of the staff with the Palliative care program and Unit in the Assiniboine Centre. A special thank you to Dr. Caplan as she went above and beyond for Mom. A Celebration of Gail’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 27th, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Brockie Donovan Funeral Chapel, 332-8th Street, Brandon. In lieu of flowers, Mom requested a donation to be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation at www.childrenswish.ca.
