Freda Margaret Lea Large December 7 1930 March 27 2019 (age 88)

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Freda Margaret Large, of Grand Manan Island, NB. Born in Macclesfield, England, on December 7, 1930, Freda came to Canada from England in 1954 with her husband Noel Holland. She had a successful career as an Executive Secretary, and raised two daughters. She moved from Toronto to Rothesay NB in 1967, where she met and married her second husband, John Kerr Large. Freda and John “retired” to Grand Manan and were busier than ever. Freda was a valuable member of the community, working for the Art Gallery; starting the Garden Club; and serving as head lay reader for the Anglican Church on the island for many years. She will be greatly missed.
Freda is survived by her daughters, Rosemary and Julia Holland, and her granddaughter, Rebecca Rainville.
Freda never forgot that during the Second World War, when she was growing up in England, the Salvation Army were always the first on the scene with aid for those injured or made homeless. In lieu of flowers, Freda would like any donations to be made to the Salvation Army.
There will be a Memorial service at the Church of the Ascension on Grand Manan, at a date and time to be announced.
