McCALL, Fred
Earl – Age 94, Milford Haven Home
for Special Care, Guysborough and formerly of Steep Creek, Guysborough
Co., passed away peacefully in the home on Monday, April 1, 2019. Born
in Steep Creek, Fred was the son of the late William and Mabel
(Hayden) McCall.
Fred will be remembered as a kind and gentle man, his wit and
sense of humor was enjoyed by all who knew him. He worked his entire
life as a lobster fisherman and labourer, working many years at
Pettipas Market in Auld’s Cove. Fred enjoyed his garden and
was most proud to be one of the first each spring to have his potatoes
planted along the shore road. He enjoyed a good game of crib and
bingo.
Fred is the last surviving member of his immediate family. He
was predeceased by sisters, Carrie MacPherson, Rhoda Hart, Emily Hart,
Patricia Luddington; brothers, William, Russell, MacKenzie and twin,
Gordon. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A special
thank you to the Guysborough Home Support Agency and their workers for
their many years of wonderful care. Thank you to the Milford Haven
Home for making Fred’s last year’s
comfortable.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday in the
Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral service will be 2 p.m.
Saturday from St. James Anglican Church, Middle Melford with Rev.
Susan Slater officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Milford Haven Corporation or St.
James Anglican Church, Middle Melford.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis
Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be
