KETTLE, FLORENCE – Florence Margaret (Abrams) Kettle, passed away April 17, 2019. She was born 01 February 1928, Weyburn, SK, daughter of Edward J. & Gladys L. (Evans) Abrams. Florence moved to Ontario with her parents in 1936. In July 1951, Florence married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Gerald Kettle C.D. and moved to Halifax, NS, to be with Bob, who was attached to the Royal Canadian Navy. There they became the proud parents of Stephen (1959) and Robert (1965). After Bob’s retirement from the Navy in July 1969, Bob and Florence along with their two young sons settled in Sarnia, ON. Florence’s life was saddened by the untimely deaths of her husband Bob, July 1988, her beloved son Stephen (Steve) in May 2007 and his loving companion Audrey Ruttan in November 2013. She was also predeceased by her dear friend, Norman Enright in 2001. Florence is fortunate to be survived by her grandsons Blair (Tina) Kettle, Paul (Danielle) Kettle, their mother Linda, as well as great grandchildren Nicholas, Payton, Emma, Madison and Nathan, all of London, her son Robert (Sara) Kettle and her grandsons Zack and TJ of Sarnia. Surviving is Florence’s sister Betty Abrams (Dale) Humphrey of Sarnia; nephews, Dennis (Heather) Humphrey, Chicago, IL; Terry (Kelly) Humphrey, Sarnia; James Abrams, London; niece, Suzanne Abrams (Trevor) Davis, Churchville, NY and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a baby brother and sister, Joseph 1926, Ellen 1930 of Weyburn, SK, her parents, Ed (1966) and Gladys Evans Abrams (1986), and her loving brother John Abrams in 2000. John’s wife Lucja resides in London, ON. She is survived by special friends, Donna Kettle Huff, niece, Bob (Kay) Kettle, nephew, Pat Kettle Frizzell, niece. She was also predeceased by special friend Alice Gaetz Kettle, niece. At Florence’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or memorial service. Private committal will be at a later date. Florence is a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Sarnia, Lambton County Branch Ontario Genealogical Society, Sarnia Lambton Sports Hall of Fame, Bluewater Branch of the Federal Retirees, Royal Canadian Naval Association, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62, 403 Wing Royal Canadian Air Force and Heritage sisters. In memory, donations may be made to Trinity Anglican Church, the Canadian Cancer Society, VON Sarnia, Canadian Red Cross Sarnia, St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia, or the charity of your choice (cheques only please at the funeral home).
