Obituary of Elsie Aitken
Aitken, Elsie Mildred (nee Tope)
Elsie passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice at the age of 93.
Elsie was born in Chatham on May 12, 1925 and was the daughter of the late William and Rhoda (nee Billing) Tope.
Beloved wife of the late Robert “Gordon” Aitken Sr. (1987).
Loving mother of Jane Bahnmiller (David) of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Robert Aitken (Alexis) of Chatham Township and John Aitken (Cindy) of Port Lambton.
Sadly missed by 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Predeceased by her brothers, Harry (Catherine) and Douglas (Marie).
Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Elsie enjoyed her mornings golfing at Country View Golf Course, gardening around her pond and spending winters in Florida for many years. She loved to shop and was always very fashionable. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
The Family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Kathryn Bailey, the Staff of the Oaks Retirement & the Staff of the Chatham-Kent Hospice for their care and compassion for Elsie.
A Private Family Service to take place with cremation to follow.
