Obituary of Donald Leroy Hood
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Donald “Don” Leroy Hood, 77, of Alton, NS on April 1st in Truro. Born on March 03, 1942, he was the son on the late Alex and Annie (Spares) Hood.
In Don’s early years he served as a police officer with the O.P.P. and the Sudbury Regional Police. Upon returning to N.S. he started a new career as a highly respected industrial electrician, working in various mines throughout Nova Scotia and Ontario. Don was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was truly a man with a big heart who was always there for anyone who needed anything. He especially enjoyed meeting people and looked forward to the morning get togethers at Stewiacke Tim Hortons.
He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Don is survived by his daughter Donna (Brent) Delaney, sons Dan (Kelly) and Donald (Robin); seven grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; sister Jeanne (Bruce) MacPherson.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Doreen (Trahan).
A private family gathering is planned for a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
