David Bernhard Goertzen was born on March 14, 1959, to John and Elizabeth Goertzen.
He grew up on the family farm near Blumenort, Manitoba with his older brother John, and younger siblings Marianne and Ernie. He accepted the Lord Jesus as his Saviour at age 8, and was eager to share his faith with those around him. He was baptized at the Steinbach M.B. church when he was 17 years old.
On Monday, April 8, 2019, surrounded by his family, he went home to heaven.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Neoma, and their four children Wayne Goertzen, Melanie (Josef) Reich, Jodie (Justin) Friesen, Aimie Goertzen, and one granddaughter Rachel Reich. He is also survived by his two brothers, one sister and their families.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth (nee Bergmann).
The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. at Steinbach Mennonite Brethren Church, Steinbach, MB., with viewing one hour prior to the service.
Interment will take place at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
