Landsburg, Darrell Russell;
It is with deep sadness that the family
announce the passing on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 of Darrell Russell
Landsburg of Salmon River. Born in Truro, Darrell was the son of the
late Fred and Violet (McCallum) Landsburg. Survived by his loving wife
and best friend Wilma (Gorman) of 53 years. Also survived by his 2
loving children, son, Craig (Lisa) Landsburg, and daughter, Angela
(Darrell) MacDonald. The light of his life was his grandchildren,
Cassie and Alexa Landsburg, Brody and Danica MacDonald. Also survived
by his sister, Darlene (Newton) Hingley; brother-in-law, Wayne Gorman;
uncle, Seth (Dorothy) Landsberg; several aunts, nieces and nephews. He
was predeceased by step-mother, Ena (MacKenzie) Landsburg; father and
mother-in-law, Bill Gorman and Frances Gorman (Sproule);
brothers-in-law, Rollie and Stuart Gorman. Darrell’s first
job was at Latimer Construction as a mechanic. Darrell then went to
work for Truro Agromart where he was a sales Manager and retired after
35 years. Each day he enjoyed meeting with the farmers across NS.
After his retirement he enjoyed working in his vegetable garden. Over
the years he loved golfing, bowling, and fishing especially with his
grandson Brody. He so much enjoyed attending all of his
grandchildren’s activities, including hockey, gymnastics
curling, swimming, and ball games. Darrell was a member of the Salmon
River Fire Brigade for 20 years, and served as Chief for a 2 year
period. He really enjoyed his time with his buddy’s at the
Fire Hall playing pool and cards and being with all of them at the
Bearcats games. He was also a huge Montreal fan, member of the Masonic
Lodge # 43, and Vice President of the Commercial Travellers.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral
Home, 55 Young Street Truro, from where visitation will be held 2
– 4 and 7 – 9 pm Friday, April 5. A Firefighters
Tribute Service will be held 6:30 pm Friday April 5, conducted by the
Salmon River Fire Brigade. A graveside service and interment will be
held 3 pm Saturday, April 6, at the Kemptown United Church Cemetery,
Kemptown. Family flowers only. Donations in Darrell’s memory
may be made to the Palliative Care of C.E.H.H.C. Truro, or to a
charity of your choice. Darrell’s family would like to
extend special thanks to Dr. Ellis, the Palliative Care Team, and all
the nurses on the 2nd floor of the West Wing.
