Life Legacy
MORTON, Carmen – Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday April 9, 2019, at the age of 99. Beloved mother of Helene (John) Magus and Catherine Morton (Allan Higbee). Cherished grandmother of Nathalie, Corinne (Yves), Jennifer (Donnie), Graham (Tiffany), Carrie (John) and Ivy. Fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren Rebecca, Christopher, Lucas, Sarah, Aleisha and Shelby. Predeceased by her husband Graham, eldest daughter Sandra, and great-grandson Jonathan. Mrs. Morton was a long-time member of the Coronation Centre and well-regarded as a devoted volunteer and violinist in the Coronation Music Circle. She had a lifelong passion for the violin, and had played in the Timmins Symphony. She was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec, and spent most of her life in Kapuskasing, Ontario. She worked for many years for the Board of Education, and after retirement, ran for, and was elected as a Member of the Board. She was also a member of the Historical Society, and Health Council for the district. Mrs. Morton also enjoyed many outdoor sports including cross-country skiing and swimming. A special thank you to the care partners of ParaMed and Hospice Niagara for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, visiting Friday from 2 to 4 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 4 pm at the funeral home. To honour Mrs. Morton’s love of dogs, memorial donations may be made to the Niagara Falls Humane Society, and would be appreciated by her family. Online condolences at www.pattersonfuneralhome.com
