Obituary of Brigid Colette Copland
(nee Duckitt)
Brigid passed away peacefully, with family by her side, at Lisaard House on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the age of 66.
Brigid is survived by her husband of nearly 43 years, Michael Copland, son Marc Copland (Martha), daughter Rachel DelGrosso (Dom), and Grammie to Virginia, DJ, and Sabrina. Loving sister of Marian Duckitt Roy, Joan Duckitt, Celeste Thompson, and Michelle Duckitt. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by her parents Joe and Julia Duckitt.
Brigid was a longtime employee of the Royal Bank and TD Bank and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Waterloo. She enjoyed reading, singing in church choirs, watching old movies and was known by family and friends to be an amazing cook, seamstress and knitter. Brigid loved to travel having recently returned from a trip to her homeland of South Africa.
Brigid’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, 173 Lourdes St., Waterloo on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Rafal Toman officiating. Cremation will follow with a private family interment at a later date. A reception in the parish hall will immediately follow the funeral mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Lisaard House or the Canadian Diabetes Association may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Grand River Hospital 8A and Lisaard House Hospice for their exceptional compassion and care.
