Peacefully at University Hospital, on Thursday, April 24, 2019, Mrs. Anita Boyer of London in her 96th year. Loving mother of Scott (Marie) of Barrie and David and his wife Rosemary of Oakville. Cherished grandmother of Jonathan, Nicole, Travis, Jessica, Colin and Jacqui. Dear sister of Gerard (Cathy) of Antigonish, NS. Predeceased by her parents Daniel and Catherine MacNeil; her sisters: Catherine, Eleanor, Vi, Carmelita and Greta; and her brothers: John, Chet and Claude. Hailing from Florence, Nova Scotia, Anita was a trailblazer on many fronts – school teacher in her teens, university graduate as a working mother of two, President of the Canadian Children’s Youth Drama Association, social advocate for Steven Truscott and Ontario teachers’ union, active political proponent at all governmental levels, avid singer and chorister who also enjoyed dance and drama. To all those who shared many memories of her, she will be truly missed. Visitation will be held on Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 777 Valetta Street, London, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Reception to follow. Private family interment St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Anita, are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
