Audrey May Wallace (Stevens), May 15, 1924 – April 19, 2019
Audrey passed away at Hillview Manor in Estevan, SK. on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert in July of 2015. She is survived by her children and their families, David (Judy) Wallace, Alison Wallace, Sally (Mike) Rabeau.
Audrey was born and raised in Morriston, Swansea, Wales, and trained as a nurse, midwife and public health nurse in London during World War II. She moved to Canada in 1952, where she took employment in Drumheller, Alberta as a public health nurse. She was later transferred to Oxbow and it was here that she met Bob. They married in 1957 and resided on the family homestead where they raised their family. In 1970, Audrey returned to nursing and spent many years employed as a private nurse, eventually taking on a full time role in the Oxbow Hospital where she worked until retiring in 1989.
Audrey was a long-time member of the South Oxbow Ladies Club, one of the early Avon Ladies, and a member of the Oxbow Ladies Legion Auxiliary. She had many hobbies including writing in her daily journals, the daily crossword, wood-carving, painting and attending fitness classes. She and Bob enjoyed many years of travelling and spending winters in their second home in Apache Junction, Arizona. Audrey took great enjoyment in her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She lived with her beloved husband Bob on the family homestead until 2015 when they moved to Hillview Manor in Estevan, where she resided until her passing.
A celebration of Audrey’s life will be held at a later date.
