ARNOLD JAMES HENRY
It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of our Father and Grandfather on Sunday, April 21, 2019.
Dad’s memory will be forever cherished by his children Dave (Becky), Don (Carol), Barb Brown (Ian), Ken (Teresa), Brian (Sue); grandchildren, Jason (Kim), Sheri (Dave), Charlene, Mike (Melissa), Tyler (Ginette), Leanne, Corey (Breanna), Sarah, Tom, Jennie (Frank) and 13 great-grandchildren as well as his brother Dave Henry, numerous nieces, nephews and a few wonderful friends. Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife Marion of 67 years and infant grandson Sean Henry.
Dad was born January 27, 1929 to Maggie and John Henry. He worked for CNR for 35 years as a Draftsman and then a B & B Master before retiring on January 31, 1986. In 1970 while working full time, Dad spent his evenings and weekends building his and Mom’s dream home in St. Andrews where they spent the next 42 years. Dad’s workmanship was meticulous and showed great perfection. All of our homes have some of his handywork, whether it be a deck, helping to build our own home, wallpapering, or building a fireplace just to name a few. We all think of him when we enjoy our homes the way he did his. Dad had a great sense of humour and enjoyed time with family and friends (especially if it included a meal). He always enjoyed good food, dancing, travelling with Mom, or helping his children with whatever projects they had on the go.
Honouring Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal Funeral Service. A private family interment of both our parents will be held in Elmwood Cemetery at a later date.
We would like to thank the Donwood Manor staff on 2 South for their compassion, respect and care of our Dad over the last year and a half.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire a donation in Dad’s name to the Alzheimer Society or Donwood Manor would be greatly appreciated.
