Agnes Josephine Eveleigh Deveaux 2019

Agnes Josephine Deveaux
Big Bras d’Or
Agnes Josephine Deveaux (Prince) passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Boutilier) (Prince) Eveleigh. Agnes and her husband Clarence moved to Toronto after the war. Missing Cape Breton and family, they moved back to North Sydney where they owned and operated the Highland Motel until retirement. Aggie and Clarence loved to travel, eventually spending their winters in Florida, a tradition Aggie continued right up to the age of 94. Agnes moved to Big Bras d’Or after the passing of her husband. Due to failing health, her final months were spent at Carefield Manor where she was warmly welcomed as part of their family.
Agnes is survived by her brothers Louis Prince, Johnnie (Myrtle) Eveleigh, a sister Mary Evans, sisters-in-law Marguerite Deveaux and Theresa Eveleigh. Agnes was predeceased by her sisters Annie Weir, Eliza Pye, by brothers Joseph Prince, William Prince, Albert Eveleigh, and Frankie in infancy, brothers-in-law Leonard Pye, Gordon Evans, Tremaine Deveaux, also sisters-in-law Louise Prince, Beatrice Prince and Francis Prince. Agnes will be forever remembered by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday April 30, at 11 am in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating. Celebrating Agnes’s goodbye, she would insist on a cup of tea in the Parish Hall. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
