Doreen & Gordon McClaflin March 31st 2019

Doreen Joy McClaflin (Lux) June 24, 1927 – March 28, 2019
Walter Gordon McClaflin February 7, 1927 – March 31, 2019
With great sorrow, the family of Doreen and Gordon announce their passing in Red Deer after a short period of illness due to stroke and heart complications.
They were born and raised in the Ponoka area, and married in September of 1948. Doreen and Gordon enjoyed over 70 years together, raising their two children in Hythe, Calgary, St. Paul and Drumheller as they moved around Alberta for Gordon’s career with the United Grain Growers. They retired on an acreage outside of Red Deer, where the extended family spent many happy Christmases, Easters, Thanksgivings and summer holidays. They traveled extensively during their last three decades, wintering in Yuma, Arizona with relatives and friends for many years and enjoying frequent trips to other parts of Canada, the U.S., the Caribbean, and Central America.
They were predeceased by their son, Dwain, and are survived by their daughter Diane (John); grandchildren Cassandra (Ben), Elissa, Rory and Patrick (Hilary) as well as great-grandchildren Max and Valentina; and extended family including Doreen’s sister, Norma (Ron), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family is deeply appreciative of the support from friends and neighbours through this difficult time, as well as the exceptional care and attention that both Doreen and Gordon received from the staff of the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.
A Celebration of Life for Doreen and Gordon will follow at a later date.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Doreen & Gordon McClaflin March 31st 2019..
