Obituary of Tommy Toney
TONEY, Thomas “Tommy” Lester – age 60, of Indian Brook, passed away peacefully surrounded by love in the QEII Infirmary, Halifax, on April 3, 2019. Born in Worchester, Mass., he was the son of the late Lester and Beatrice (Largess) Toney.
Tommy was an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and working outdoors. He was a talented carpenter. Tommy believed that every job should be done well. He served 6 years in the US Marine Corps. He loved his dog Albert, very much. Tommy fought so hard to stay with us these last few weeks.
Tommy is survived by his partner, Krissi Morris; his children, Nick Powers, Joseph Toney, Brett (Emily), Levi Francis Toney, Thomas Lester Toney IV; step-daughter Sydney Morris-Toney; grandchildren, Joseph, Brooke, and Brett’s three children; sisters, Cheryl (Alan) Legere, Donna (David) Toney-Wheeler, Linda (David) Gregoire, Michelle “Mimi” (Rick) Gauvin ; godchildren, Felicia Paul, Keyan Sack, Benjamin McDonald, Kylie Sack.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Visitation will be held at 163 Brown Flats Road, Indian Brook beginning at 6pm today Friday April 5 until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 2pm, Monday, April 8 in St. Kateri Roman Catholic Church, Indian Brook, Father Ron Cairns officiating. Feast and Salite will be held in the Indian Brook Community Centre.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Halifax Infirmary for the exceptional care they gave Tommy.
