MEAGHER: (née Senkbeil) Coralie “Beryl” passed away peacefully at her residence, Fairview Home on April 19, 2019. Beryl was born in Brandon, Manitoba on February 14, 1922. She was raised on the Senkbeil family farm at Kemnay, Manitoba. She attended Kemnay School and helped with the work on the farm. She married John Meagher on November 18, 1942. They lived and farmed in the Kemnay district until retiring to Brandon. During her years in Kemnay, Beryl was involved with the community and belonged to the United Church, Women’s Auxiliary and Young Women’s KXL Club. During those years Beryl also was a member of the Brandon Curling Club as well as the Brandon Horticulture Society. Beryl worked alongside John during their years on the farm. She raised chickens and sold eggs. Beryl and John retired to Brandon and built a new home on 6th Street. The move to Brandon created new interests and fun. Beryl was a very active member of the Brandon New Horizons Senior Club, Stanley Park Lawn Bowling, and Central United Church. Beryl and John enjoyed years of dancing, playing cards, visiting friends and some travel. She also enjoyed gardening in her yard. Beryl was predeceased by her husband John in November of 1987. After John’s death Beryl remained active and enjoyed lawn bowling, floor and table shuffleboard and lots of cards. She was a real card shark. Beryl made the move from her home on 6th Street to the Odd Fellows Corner where she enjoyed the companionship and activities with her fellow residents for several years before moving to Fairview Home in 2017. Beryl is survived by her brother, Cecil (Margaret) Senkbeil, sister in law Katie Meagher, four nephews, one niece and their families. Beryl was predeceased by; her parents Edward and Coralie Senkbeil, husband John Meagher, sister Isobel (Stan) Gilbert, sister Shirley (Neale) McIntyre, nephew Allan McIntyre, brothers in law Alex (Dot) Meagher, Gordon Meagher, sisters in law Annie and Alice Meagher. A graveside service will be held at the Brandon Cemetery (west side of 18th St.) on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a 12:00 p.m. service and lunch in the George Brockie Fellowship Centre at the Brockie Donovan Chapel. The service will be officiated by Rev. Craig Miller. The family would like to acknowledge and express gratitude to Dr. S. Blyth for his many years of care to Beryl, and to the great staff on the 4th floor at Fairview Home.
