It is with great sadness that the family of Loraine Elizabeth (McRae) Estey announce her passing on April 19, 2019. She was born in Saint John, NB on September 23, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Geraldine Emma (Cowie) McRae and Kenneth Samuel McRae. Loraine was an Administrative Assistant with the Canadian Armed Forces for many years. She was also a member of the Quilt Guild and a long term volunteer with Romero House. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, beach combing, traveling and music, but spending time with her family was her greatest joy.
Loraine was survived by her husband Ronald Estey of Quispamsis, NB, her children Paul (Linda) McFate of Payson, Utah, Malcolm McFate of Sus, NB, Lori Peacock of Hampton, NB, Brad (Suzanne) McFate of Dartmouth, NS, Lyndon (Aimee) McFate of Fairlee, Vermont, Rosalyn (Blair) Hyslop of Quispamsis, NB, and John (Gordana) Estey of Calgary, Alberta.Loraine also leaves a lasting impression on her 15 grandchildren; Laura (Eric), Sarah (Colton), Andrew, Jenna, Jamey, Josie, Sean, Emma, Zella, Severin, Ross, Noah, Alexandria, Kayley, Katrina and two great grandchildren; Kelsey and Adam, and another on the way.
Loraine was very close to her caring brothers Glenn (Donna) McRae, Gerald (Eileen) McRae, Blaine (Diane) McRae, Kendall (Nancy) McRae and her sisters Carol (Jimmy) Moore, Marilyn (Tommy) McQuinn as well as her sisters-in-law Doris McRae and Elaine McFate and her brother in-law Cyril (Jackie) McFate. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was pre-deceased by her son Andrew, her sister Bernice (Arthur) Ellis, brothers Bernard (Alfreida) McRae, and Leo McRae and her brothers-in-law Roland McFate, Glen Estey, Gerald Estey and sister-in-law Marion McRae.
Services will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646–2424) with visitation on Tuesday, April 23 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A celebration of Loraine’s life will be held at the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 24 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at St. Andrew’s United Kirk Cemetery.
