VLASMAN, Adrian William ‘Harry’ – Passed away peacefully, at the age of 83, at Hospice Wellington on Friday April 19, 2019, with his children at his side.
Beloved father of the late Robert, Julie (Mark), Laurie and Andrew (Lesley). Devoted grandfather to Auden, Emily, Ethan, Matthew, Sarah and Kyle. Son of the late Anthony and Johana. Loving brother to Cornelius (Josie), Theresa, Leda and Mary, and brother-in-law to Ann, Hilda and Alieda. Predeceased by his brothers Martin (Henny), Tony, John, Theo (Tiny) and Joe, and brothers-in-law Henk and Joe. Harry will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and by his large circle of friends.
Harry was born in the Netherlands on July 13, 1935, and immigrated to Canada as a teenager with his family in 1949. After finishing high school he joined the Royal Bank of Canada, where he helped many people throughout his career. Harry was active in the community through the Kiwanis Club, and as a dedicated parishioner of Holy Rosary Church since 1972. He had a passion for gardening and his vegetable and flower gardens were a labour of love. He was also an avid card player, especially Bridge. His grandchildren were a great source of pride, and he could always be found in attendance at their many events, just as it was with his children.
His family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph on Thursday, April 25, 2019, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church, 175 Emma Street, Guelph, on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Marymount Cemetery following mass. If so desired and in lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated.
