Marnie Sproule passed away peacefully April 13th, 2019, at the age of 91.
She is predeceased by husband, Brian; and survived by her sister, Barbara (Ossie); brother, Jack (Betty); four children: Tim, Shannon, John (Coralie), and Erin (Dave); as well as seven grandchildren: Scott, Erin, Brian, Liam, Sara, Connor, and Jack.
Born in Waterhole, Alberta, Marnie grew up in Fairview and was a ‘farm girl’ at heart, remaining so proud of the community she came from. She attended the University of Alberta in Nursing, graduating in 1951 and returning 30 years later to study Art History. She married Dr. Brian Sproule in 1955 and they both went to Texas where their four children were born.
On their return to Edmonton, Marnie devoted her time to creating a welcoming and loving home for both direct and extended family. She became an accomplished potter and was a lover of gardens, books, art, photography and walking. Those walks took her either around the neighborhood, or through mountain passes with a network of friends or family. She devoted her energies to her children’s passions, their lives and the lives of people they cared about. Humble and humbling, loving and loved, possessing tremendous grace, tremendous strength …. magnificent.
The Sproule family would like to thank Dr. Fraser Armstrong, his resident Dr. Kenton Nicholson, and staff on 5 East, Misericordia Hospital for their professional and compassionate care to her and the family.
A Celebration of her Life will occur at 2:00 p.m. on June 7, 2019 at the Unitarian Church, 10804 – 119 Street NW, Edmonton.
In lieu of flowers the family would ask people to contribute to their community through a charity they feel passionate about.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Marion Sproule Maiden MacKay of Edmonton..
