Robert Gordon FARQUHARSON February 22 1942 April 11 2019 (age 77)

It is with sadness the family of Robert Gordon Farquharson announce his peaceful passing on April 11, 2019 at the Rosetown & District Health Centre at the age of 77 years.
Bob was born Feb 22, 1942 in Rosetown, the youngest of six children born to Jim & Jessie Farquharson. He attended Dublin School, Zealandia Public School and Rosetown Composite High School. He won the Seager Wheeler Trophy for hard spring wheat and was a charter member of the Eagle Hill 4H Grain Club. Bob was also a cub and scout master.
Bob married Lynn Moore on November 15, 1963 while employed in the accounting department of Canadian Cooperatives Implement Limited in Saskatoon. He returned to the farm for one growing season to help his brother Jimmy. It was during this time that their daughter Heather was born in Rosetown. He then returned to CCIL and was transferred to head office in Winnipeg. From there another transfer took the family to Kindersley where Bob was assistant manager and this is where their daughter Maureen was born. A transfer to Outlook depot put Bob in the manager’s position and in the fall of 1969, the family returned to take over the farm at Zealandia. He always had a garden big enough to share with family and friends.
Bob was an avid curler and enjoyed the keen competition. In the early 1980’s, Bob joined the Rosetown Kinsmen Club achieving Kinsmen of the Year, served as president, then Zone Deputy Governor and went on to skip the clubs rink that won the provincial trophy. Bob & Lynn were excited when they worked at the first ever Telemiracle and several more after that. Bob eventually moved up to the K40 Club, served as president and bowled in the K40 league. He was co-founder of the Dusty Trails Riding Club and also co-founded the Saskatchewan Pest Control Officers Association serving as chairman for 10 years and past chair for many more. He was also a busy member of the Zealandia Elks.
Bob & Lynn moved in to Zealandia in 1991 and with only grass and trees to cut, Bob had more time for golf. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing, dancing, camping, furniture refinishing and playing cards. Everyone knew Bob loved to cook both indoors and out. To many he was known as “BBQ Bob”. Grandpa Bob loved time spent with their four grandchildren, they were each very special to him.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Lynn of 55 years; his two beautiful daughters and their families Heather (Andrew) Larance of Saskatoon and Maureen (Gerry) Quintal of Drumheller AB; cherished grandchildren Kyle Quintal, Courtney Quintal (Ethan Barber), Wyatt Larance and Damon Larance; brother Walter (Joan) Farquharson of Saltcoats as well as several generations of nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Jim and Jessie Farquharson, brothers Alexander (Bill) and James, sisters Margaret Hamilton and Jean Sweatman, sisters-in-law Edith and Mabel Farquharson and brothers-in-law Norman Sparks and James Hamilton.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosetown Elks Hall. As per Bob’s request, there are to be no suits and ties and lots of laughs. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Alex Ositis Foundation, P.O. Box 1251, Rosetown, SK, S0L 2V0.
