Gerald Jed Richard Casey 2019

Gerald “Jed” Richard Casey passed away, March 26, 2019 at the age of 56 from complications related to diabetes. Born in Miramichi, NB, he was the son of the late Esson and Ellien (Walsh) Casey.
Gerald leaves his beloved wife, Mary Beth (Pleadwell) of 30 years; his brothers and sisters: Brian (Lily) of Ottawa, ON, Kerry of Chelmsford, NB, Raymond (Charlotte) of Miramichi, NB, John (Marlene) of Kamloops, BC, Mary Lou (Allison) of Miramichi, NB, Ellen (Stewart) Kidd of Fredericton, NB, Christopher of Miramichi, NB, several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, a special mother and father-in-law: Sonny and Phyllis Pleadwell; sister-in-law: Pamela Underhill, many special friends and close colleagues (family) in Doha, Qatar.
Gerald was an Aircraft Mechanic and an Instrumentation Process Control Engineer by trade, and at the time of his death was employed by the college of North Atlantic in Doha, Qatar for 6 years. He was formerly employed with Heath Steel Mines and Brunswick Mines for 25 years.
Gerald will forever be remembered as a great hockey player who loved the game. He played minor hockey until Midget in Newcastle, High School, Industrial league with Sunny Corner Mechanical and Workman’s League with Mark’s Work Warehouse, A&R Dawson and Casey Tire Fire Hawks. He also played hockey in the Middle East League and scored the winning goal at the Desert Cup Tournament. Jed also played floor hockey and was part of many championship teams with the Black Horse Tavern. One of his proudest accomplishments was the building of his cedar log cottage in Upper Derby, NB, where he spent many nights with his wife and family by the water. Jed cherished his many trips with his Fly Fishing best buddies on the Miramichi.
Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Miramichi, NB on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 2 PM with Father Antonio Reyes officiating. Burial will take place at a later time.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the College of the North Atlantic in Qatar, for the memorial in his memory with the students and staff.
