WHYNOT – Joan Mary 72, of Milton, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2019 in Queens General Hospital.
Born in Milton, Joan was a daughter of the late Richard “Dick” and Ruth (Sarty) Whynot.
Joan was a waitress for most of her working life and worked for various restaurants throughout the local area such as the café at the local Metropolitan Store and the Morningside Café in Liverpool. Joan loved her time with family, Monday coffee nights with the girls, playing cards, going to bingo, spending time with her twin sister Judy, her treasured granddaughter Kelsey and all the family. She loved her TV programs especially her stories and was a fantastic baker of cakes, cookies and pies.
Joan is survived by her son Scott (Anne Roy) of Mersey Point; her granddaughter Kelsey Nickerson; her sisters Judy (David) Whynott of Western Head; Peggy (Arthur “Jr.”) Dalby and Eleanor Wentzell, both of Liverpool; Tina Whynot of Halifax. Her brothers Phillip (Debbie) of Windsor and Kevin (Violet) of Milton.
Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her sisters Libby and Nancy Johnson and her brothers Eldridge and Arnold.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A celebration of Joan’s life will be held Monday, March 11, 2019 from 11:00 until 1:00 in Chandlers’ funeral home, Liverpool. A private family burial will take place at a later date. No flowers by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association or the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada.
