Vincent Dobson, beloved husband of Dorothy, passed away at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre – Long Term Care, Moosomin, on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 9 days short of his 92nd birthday.
Funeral service from G.R.Carscadden Funeral Chapel, Moosomin, on Saturday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Mel Konkel officiating. Interment in Moosomin South Cemetery at a later date.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Moosomin & District Healthcare Foundation – Long Term Care, in memory of Vince.
Vincent Arnold Dobson was born 15 March 1927. To Edward Blake Dobson and Jessie Rebecca Clark, in Union Hospital Moosomin, Sk. He passed away peacefully with family by his side at 7 P.M. March 6th 2019.at Southeast Long Term Care, Moosomin, Sk. Missed his 92nd birthday by 9 days. He took all his schooling at rural Cailmount School.
Vince married Dorothy Jean Dempster on 06th June 1953 after a 9 month courtship.
The grandchildren and Great Grandchildren all called him Papa.
Vince used to enjoy hunting and really enjoyed fishing at Round Lake and then Moosomin Lake, Jan Lake, and on a fly in camp, plus a trip won by the Moosomin R. M.
Vince started farming at age 18, with Brother Lloyd, & kept up until land expanded & the sons of each joined in, then two brothers split, and Vince kept it up till 2005, having an auction sale in April 2006.
Vince played saxophone for Fleming Rhythmaire’s for 10 years also helping out on the drums and piano, He enjoyed camping with the family and lots of dancing.
Vince was on the R.M. Council for Moosomin 121, for 25 years. He coached hockey for a number of years. Was president of the Dutch elm disease for a while and on the Library Board. Vince was very fond of reading all books on flying and about WW2.and watching movies on WW2.
He did quite a lot of travelling, going to Austria, Barbados, Texas, Florida, Cuba, Mexico, B.C. and Ontario.
In 2001 he had a new home built in Moosomin, but his health declined very shortly afterward, and travelling was not so much of an option. He really enjoyed going to the Legion for coffee on his scooter, albeit he was a poor driver.
Vince spent 4 ½ Years in Long Term care.
Vince was predeceased by his parents, brothers Wesley and Lloyd, Sisters Beatrice. Edna and Enid, granddaughter Alyx Poirier Johnson, and great grandson Carson Cole Jacobs,
Remembered by his loving wife Dorothy, Brenda Bowey (Gordon), Ernest (Brenda), Sheila (Tim), Granddaughters Danette (Jeff), Charlotte (Shawn), Ashly (Mike) Meadow Lake, Annique (Cole), Whitewood, Grandsons, Matthew Stratford, PEI, Andrew (Kari-Ida) Onanole, Mb. Mitchell (Paige) Regina, Great Grandchildren, Shelby, Todd Jacob (T.J,) (Taylor) Pawluk Gimli. Mb. Cody, Colton, Lukas, Sydney, Cadence, Callie, Wyatt and Kaylee. Sister in-law Audrey Carlyle of Elliott Lake, Ont. & brother -in-law Lavern (Elaine) Dempster of Duncan, B.C. nieces & nephews.
