Obituary of Tony Snyder
Snyder, Merrill Douglas “Tony”: 72, of Halifax, NS passed away on March 9, 2019 at the QEII hospital in Halifax. Born in Sunnybrae, NS, he was a son of the late Abner and Violet (Chisholm) Snyder. Throughout his life, Tony was a well-known sheet metal worker who worked for himself, as well as for various companies and the Halifax Shipyard. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was always ready for a good game of cards. Tony enjoyed joking around and was always willing to give you his opinion on any topic. He was a sports enthusiast throughout his life and enjoyed basketball, watching golf and rooting for the Boston Bruins and Toronto Blue Jays. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diana (Verge), his daughter, Julia Noel (Michael), Hubley; sisters, Sharon Denty and Mona Hatch, brothers, Layton, Don and Floyd. “Pa” is also survived by his four grandchildren, Hannah, Adam, Isabelle and Beau, who he loved dearly. Tony was predeceased by his only son, Merrill, sisters, Geraldine Facey, Kelly Langille, and Vera Chaisson, and brothers, Brent and Cyril.
By request, cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS, where a celebration of Tony’s life will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 10AM in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
