Tony’s Obituary
Tony Sitter passed away the morning of March 13, 2019 in Grimshaw Continuing Care at the age of 82.
Tony was born in Fox Valley, Saskatchewan on May 18, 1936 to Frank and Tillie Sitter. Moved to Medicine Hat and began working at the Hycroft Potteries, then went on to work on a road construction crew for several years. Tony began working around the Westlock area where he met the love of his life Delphine Aherne. They were soon married and shared 60 years together. They went on to live in several towns throughout southern Alberta where they began to raise a family. Tony and Del moved to Linden in 1969 where Tony drove truck and eventually owned and operated Ty-Dal Tank Truck Service. Tony took pride in his farm where he welcomed many animals and taught his children to love and care for all of God’s creations.
After retiring and selling their acreage and business in Linden, Tony and Del Moved to Sangudo, AB where they owned and operated a carwash and laundromat until retirement in Peace River Area in 2004.
He was a strong patriarch of his family, a good friend to all, a man who would give his shirt for a friend. He had an ear for music, becoming a self taught accordion player. One of his joys was gathering with friends and family to share their musical talent together, wife Del often accompanying with the banjo.
He is loved and will be missed by many. He was a good father who always took care of his children and did the best he could to teach and guide them. He was also a devoted and loving husband, constantly by his wife’s side during her own battles with illness.
Tony is predeceased by his parents Frank and Tillie, Daughters Charlene and Gwen, Son Blaine, Nephew Terry, and son-in-law Richard. He is survived by wife Delphine, Daughters Janet, Cheryl (Tom) and Valerie, Son Doug (Katie). Grandchildren Shane, Cherilyn, Tina, Serena, Steven, Joel, Becky and Madison; Great Grandson Ethan; and Brother Ken (Sharon), along with multiple nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Peace River, AB on Saturday March 30 at 11:00am Luncheon to follow.
Interment of the Ashes will be held at a later date at the Mountain View Cemetery in Calgary, AB.
