Alexander Stewart Kell – We are sad to announce the passing of Stewart on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay. Loving husband of Elaine Kell (Craddock) for over 60 years. Beloved father of Jeffrey (Madina) and Gary (Erika). Cherished grandfather of 3 fine grandsons Alexander, Ethan, and Sean and step-granddaughter Katherine Pitchers. Predeceased by parents Jean and Alexander Kell, sister Anne and brother William. Born in Scotland, emigrated to Canada in 1950. Stewart’s career with the Province of Ontario spanned a period of 35 years. Stewart worked for the Ministry of Transportation and Communication in various departments, such as Manager of Tenders office, Executive Assistant to the Deputy Minister of Finance, Executive Assistant to the Minister of Transportation and Communication, Managing Director of Ontario Highway Transport Board and ending his career as Deputy Commissioner of the Ontario Pavilion in 1986 at the World Exposition, Vancouver. Stewart and his wife traveled extensively through business and personal enjoyment. After retirement he and Elaine moved to Lindsay joined the Lindsay Curling Club and Cambridge Street United Church and enjoyed immediate friendship and support of many people. Stewart will be missed by close relatives Colleen and Stanley Gilpin, many nieces and nephews, and close friends and family here and in Scotland and Australia. Visitation will be held at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay on Thursday, March 7th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Cambridge Street United Church, 61 Cambridge Street North, Lindsay, on Friday, March 8th at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes and may be made through Mackey Funeral Home or online at www.mackeys.ca
