Obituary for Mrs. Ruth Audrey Lougheed
Passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital. Beloved wife of Melvin for 58 years and mother to Joan (Bob) McLeod, Lynda Lougheed (Shannon Fenton), Lisa Lougheed (Don Henderson), Jeff Lougheed (Lorna Boyes) and Janice (Kevin) McLeod. Gramma Ruth to Kari (Derek), Andrew (Laura), Patrick (Leslie), Rachelle, Kate (Scott), Alex, Emily, Amanda, Adam, Matthew (Laura), Ryan (Anatasia), Mitchell and Britton. Great Gramma to Suyrea, Hailey, Kailyn, Max, Oscar, Cole, Katie, Oliver, Annabelle, Nash, Kirra and Charolotte. Dear sister of Betty (the late Ray) Wilson, Barry (Linda) Holden, the late Ken (Brenda) Holden, and Denver (Peggy) Holden. Sister-in-law to Graham, Marcia, Sylvia, Wayne, Delmer, Della, Audrey and the late Evelyn, Josephine, John and Phyllis. Aunt and Great Aunt to many, a friend to all who knew her. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid fisherwoman and card player, and attended many hockey and baseball games cheering on the kids or perhaps doing a bit of refereeing and umpiring from stands. She was known to place a wager or two. A celebration of Ruth’s life will take place on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Trinity United Church, 140 Maple Street, Collingwood with visitation from 12noon – 1pm and service at 1pm. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital ICU unit or the Royal Victoria Regional Cancer Centre.
