1959-2019
Russell Leaman Saltzman – age 59, of New Minas, passed away
on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at home. Born in Kentville, he was a son
of the late Everett and Gladys (Lightfoot) Saltzman. Russell had
various occupations, some of which included harvesting potatoes for
Steve Whitney and vegetables for Homer Steele, drove a truck for Boyd
Pineo. In addition to all of this, he was a backyard mechanic. Russell
had a love for country music and animals, especially his pets. He is
survived by two sisters, Cora England, Kentville and Augusta
“Gussie” Schnare, Middleton; three brothers, George
(Robin), Canning; Richard (Shirley), New Brunswick and John, Canning;
nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a
sister, Laura; brothers, Frank and James; brothers-in-law, Martin
England and Roy Schnare. Cremation has taken place. There will be no
visitation, by request. A funeral service, followed by a meet and
greet, will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2019 in the
White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Gary Manthorne
officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam
Mill. The family would like give special thanks to Leonard and Cathy
Plumtree for providing special care to Russell during his illness.
Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral
Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
