Raymond Clayton Archibald
1933-2019
Raymond Clayton Archibald – age 85, of Denver,
Guysborough County passed away on March 7, 2019 in High Crest
Sherbrooke Nursing Home. Born in Denver he was a son of the late
Fisher and Bessie (Fenton) Archibald.
Ray was a woodsman and was a partner in the family
sawmill, F. Archibald and Sons. He was an active member of Glenelg
Presbyterian Church where he was organist and treasurer for many
years. Ray was in the first graduating class of St. Mary’s
High school and went on to Mount Allison University and later to
Dalhousie University where he received a degree in Civil Engineering.
Ray also enjoyed woodworking and made many items for family and
churches throughout the area.
He is survived by his brother Eldon (Olive)
Archibald, Denver; sisters-in-law Muriel Archibald, Marilyn Archibald;
brothers-in-law Eldon Taylor, Russell Porter, and James MacKay many
nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and great-great-
nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings Joseph (Margaret)
Archibald, Clarence (Joyce) Archibald, Vera (Stirling) Taylor, Frank
Archibald, Isabel Porter, Hazel (Stewart) Gunn, Robert (Ethel)
Archibald, Muriel Taylor, John in infancy, Ruth Mackay, and Harold
Archibald.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Sunday,
March 10, 2019 in Glenelg Presbyterian Church, Aspen. Funeral service
will be held at 2 pm on Monday, March 11, 2019 in the Kirk Memorial
United Church, Aspen with Debbie Stewart and Rev. Derek Elsworth
officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Aspen.
Donations in memory of Ray may be made to St. Mary’s
Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke, High-Crest Sherbrooke Nursing Home or a
charity of your choice.
