O’Neal George William
Blackman – age 22, of Wolfville, passed away on Thursday, March 7,
2019 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he
was a son of Ishmael and Shelly (Pye) Blackman, Wolfville.
O’Neal was a graduate of Horton District High School and was
in his fifth year at Acadia University, in the graduating class of
2019. He could often be found spending time with his friends hanging
out at the SUB (Student Union Building). He enjoyed doing arts and
crafts, attending SMILE at Acadia, baking, telling jokes and laughing.
He adored his younger brother and loved hanging out with his father on
Sundays. O’Neal was actively involved in raising much needed
funds and awareness for Muscular Dystrophy. In addition to his
parents, he is survived by his brother, Keaton, Wolfville; maternal
grandmother, Doreen Pye, South Alton; aunts, uncles, cousins, extended
family and many friends. He was predeceased by his maternal
grandfather, F. William “Bill” Pye; paternal
grandparents, George and Verona Blackman.
There will be no visitation, by request.
The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00
p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019 in the White Family Funeral Home,
Kentville, Reverend Virginia DeAdder officiating. Burial will take
place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Family
flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to Muscular
Dystrophy Canada. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the
White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
