CANNING, Norman George – Passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in his 89th year, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Beloved husband of the late Goldie (Johnson) (1999); father of Thomas Canning, Alberta; and Karen Trudy Steen, Ontario. Grandfather of Joshua, Nicole, Kristian, Eric and Jessica; with numerous great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Mira Long Term Care Facility and Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Despite having Alzheimer’s Disease he maintained his sense of humor, love of music, and often would be up on his feet for a polka. Everyone is invited to a graveside service to be held on June 18, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Wyvern Cemetery, followed by a reception in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (902-447-2930). As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the funeral home website at www.mmcfunerals.com
