Obituary of Neil Strand
It is with treasured memories that we announce the death of Neil Strand. Neil passed away in comfort at ARCH with family by his side on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the age of 73. Preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine. Loving father of Jennifer Strand (John Carricato) and Jeff Strand (Pla). Cherished Papa and proud grandfather of Daniel and James Carricato. Dear brother of Darleen Dickson (Rick), Ingrid Strand and Eric Strand (Anne). He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Neil was a gifted teacher, who spent most of his career at Greenwood School. He was a sports enthusiast and an especially good curler. He was a lover of music and inspired many others to find the musicians within themselves. Above all, Neil was a kind and gentle soul who used humour and conversation to make people feel at ease. The family would like to thank all hospital staff as well as staff and volunteers at ARCH for their compassionate care of our father. A special thank you to Pat and Tammy. The family would also like to thank Harold for his supportive friendship and Neil’s friends at Uusi Koti. Memorial donations to ARCH or the Ontario Finnish Resthome Association (OFRA) would be appreciated by the family. A Celebration of Neil’s life will be held at a later date.
