Merril McLaughlin Milton
1931-2019
Merril McLaughlin Milton, 87, of Hillsborough passed away
peacefully on March 30th, 2019 at the Moncton Hospital.
Merril was born in Surrey on November 1, 1931, the son of
the late Delbert and Elsie (McCoubrey) Milton.
Merril was a jack of all trades and could do anything he
set his mind to. For the majority of his working life, he
worked as a contractor, but he also was a locksmith, sold cars, owned
his own paving company, and had a wide variety of other
interests. Merril was a member of the Hillsborough Baptist
Church. He enjoyed camping and traveling in his motorhome
with his wife, having gone all across Canada and even up the Alaskan
Highway. He was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed moose
season and getting that big bull. Merril could also
be found outdoors and fishing the river banks of Albert County and the
surrounding areas. His main priority in life was his
family. He was so proud of his daughter and the life she has
made for herself, his grandchildren were his pride and joy and he has
made many memories for them to treasure. Those we
love don’t go away they stand beside us everyday, unseen, unheard but
always near.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Viola (Hawkes)
Milton; daughter, Maurenia Milton – Lynds; son-in-law, Kirk Lynds of
Ottawa; his cherished grandchildren, Kenton Merril Lynds and Morgan
Viola Lynds both of Ottawa; sister Joan Steeves (Bob) and brother,
Joseph Milton both of Hillsborough.
He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with
visitation on Wednesday evening from 7-9pm. The funeral
service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Thursday,
April 4th, 2019 at 2:00pm with Rev. Geoff deJong and Rev. Dean
MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in the Grey’s
Island Cemetery, Hillsborough, NB at a later
date.
For those who wish, donations to the Hillsborough Baptist
Church would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral
