Mary “Irene”‘s Obituary
ROBAR, Mary “Irene” ~ Age 98, of Berwick, formerly of Kingston, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, March 26, 2019, in the Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Harmony, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Ivy (Rice) Leonard. Irene and her late husband Enoch lived in Whitehorse but spent most of their lives in Tremont, then Wilmot. Irene and Whitney bought a house in Kingston, where she lived until Whitney passed away and then she moved into the Grand View Manor. Irene worked in the kitchen at a hospital, the Handy Stand, the Sundry Shop, and various other jobs like peeling apples by hand. She was a committed member of the Kingston Baptist Church and she loved to donate baked goods and hand knit items like hats and mittens. Irene was an excellent cook and took great pride in her home. She loved taking care of her family, especially her nephew Reggie who she took in when his mother passed away. Irene continued to take care of Reggie and Kim’s children whenever she was needed. When Kim went back to school to become a teacher, she basically moved into their house and took care of the family when Kim was away. Irene made all of the meals, always had baked goods, did the laundry (she even ironed the towels), kept the house clean, and took care of their three children, Scott, Logan, and Samantha. When Tessa was born, she took care of her right up until she went to school. Her family is very thankful for all the wonderful memories that they have shared with her. Irene was the best person and role model that they could have hoped for, even if she was a bit stubborn. A special thank you to the VON who cared for her and Whitney after she fell and broke her hip, right up until she moved into the Manor. The family would also like to thank the nurses at the Grand View Manor for their wonderful care. While Irene was in the Manor, she looked forward to weekly visits and she enjoyed the treats of baked goods, ice caps, fruit explosion muffins, or Jonny’s ice cream. She also loved the fresh flowers from Kim’s gardens which really brightened up her room. When Irene was unable to get out of bed, she loved to look at pictures of the gardens as well as her nieces and nephews. Irene is survived by her brother, Avard (Juanita) Leonard; her nephews, Reg (Kim) Leonard, David (Sandra) Leonard, and Carson LaPierre; her nieces, Darice and Natasha LaPierre, Susan (Donnie) Scoville and Deesha Leonard; great nephews, Scott, Blake, and Christopher Leonard; great nieces, Samantha (Scott) Foote, Tessa, and Lindsey Leonard; great-great nephews, Dylan and Desmond Leonard, Zander Foote; great- great nieces, Grace and Bella. Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband, Enoch; her great nephew, Logan; her son, Whitney; her brother, Reginald; and her sister-in-law, Jeanette. Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 30, both in the Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Rev.
