Marie MacGregor (Beatteay) Patrick
1923-2019
Died peacefully February 17 after a brief illness. Born in
Saint John, NB, August 27, 1923 to the late Marion and Allan
Beatteay.
She enjoyed an eclectic childhood playing tennis, golf, piano
and riding horses. She attended vocational college,
Westbrook Junior College, Boston’s Chamberlain School of Retailing,
Nova Scotia Technical College and worked for Eaton’s training store
managers.
She lived in Fredericton and Montréal during her
husband’s university years and moved back to New Brunswick in 1955,
first Boiestown and then Fredericton since 1959. She was active in The
Salvation Army, United Church Women and Hospital Aid. She was a long
time member of the Garrison Club.
Starting with Manpower in Job Relations Training, she moved
to KMart as Personnel Manager. She directed the NB Division of Pro
Feminae until 1985 and later taught Career Orientation for Women at
NBCC.
Devoted mother to her 5 children Cathy Elizabeth, Karen Marie
(David Skinner), Peter Allan (Elizabeth Cowan), Paul Murray and Allan
Beatteay (Shelley MacDonnell). She also leaves five grandchildren
Rebecca, Stephanie, Ian, David and Katherine. She was predeceased by
her husband Dr. Murray C. Patrick and her daughter
Cathy.
She was an avid reader, loving sports and crossword puzzles.
She spent summers at her beloved Woodman’s Point until her late
eighties.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held
at STU Conference Centre, 368 Forest Hill Rd, on Saturday, April 20,
2019 at 2pm with Rev. Dr. Kelly Burke officiating. Donations in
Marie’s memory would be greatly appreciated to a charity of
