Margaret Tooley 19212019

Margaret Tooley
1921-2019
It is with sadness that the family of Margaret Tooley
announces her passing on March 15, 2019 at the Ridgewood Veterans
Wing. Born December 28, 1921 in London England, She was the daughter
of the late Walter and Florence (Greenway) Green, and wife to the late
Robert Tooley.
Margaret is survived by her children Wendy, Camilla, Coral,
Rebecca, Nicholas, and Amanda. Along with her parents and husband, she
was predeceased by her sisters Doreen Green, and Audrey
Evans.
In 1940, Margaret joined the woman’s Air Force in
England as a Morse code operator. 75 years later she could still
decipher it, and when watching a film that had Morse code in it, could
tell you what was being said.
After the war, Margaret married, and started her family, and
in 1952, immigrated to Newfoundland. The family moved with the
Canadian Air Force from North Bay, France, Toronto, and eventually
Ottawa. In 1974, Margaret moved to New Brunswick, and while living in
Fredericton, graduated from the New Brunswick Craft School, spending
some time as a docent at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. Margaret spent
many years painting and making jewellery, eventually moving to Saint
John to be closer to family.
The family wishes to extend many thanks to the nurses and
staff at 3D south of the SJRH, The nurses and staff of the Ridgewood
Veterans Wing, and a special thank you to Heather and staff at the
Murray Street Lodge for their compassion and care throughout the
years.
As per Margaret’s wishes, there will be no
visitation. A private service will be held at a later date. For those
who wish, donations in Margaret’s memory can be made to a
charity of the donor’s choice.
