Margaret May Nelson (nee: Crossan)
October 3, 1928 – March 19, 2019
It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret May Nelson, announces that on Tuesday March 19, 2019, at the age of 90 years old, she left for the spirit world.
Margaret was known to her family, friends and community for her smile, kindness, loving ways, her sensitivity, sincerity, patience and acceptance towards others.
She moved from Montreal to Belleville in the early 60s, with the love of her life, her husband, the late Verdon Patrick Nelson, who served in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
After her husband’s passing, Margaret was determined to provide a wonderful life for her 3 daughters, and with a grade 8 education she convinced a manager over many months to hire her and went on to retire after many years as a civil servant with Canada Employment Agency where she made many great friends.
Born in Montreal in 1928 to the late Andrew Ireland Crossan Sr. and Victoria May Crossan (Haas), she had 5 siblings; Agnes, Robina, and predeceased by her sisters Joan, Dorothy and her brother Andrew.
Survived by her daughters Norine, Sandra (late Richard), Carol (Joseph), grandchildren; Tyler, Angeline, Alex, and Jessica, Great-grandchildren; Kazeha-Lee, Austin, Emma, Kingsley and Kolten, and many other relatives who will miss her greatly.
A Celebration of life will be held in Belleville, at 2pm on Sunday May 26, 2019, at the Army Navy and Airforce Veterans-Duke of Edinburgh, 187 Front Street, Belleville.
Her final resting place will be with her husband Verdon in Mattawa Ontario at the St. Anne’s Cemetery, on May 27th, 2019.
In lieu of flowers, her family invites donations to be made to the Hospice Prince Edward.
