Obituary for Lucien Labelle
In loving memory of
Mr. Lucien Labelle
August 22nd, 1926 – March 1st, 2019
With great sorrow his loving family announces the passing of Lucien on in the early hours of Friday March 1st 2019 at the Villa Minto in Cochrane at the age of 92. He was the beloved husband for 68 years of the late Audrey Labelle (nee Golding). He was the proud father of Alexia, late Kristine and Shayna (Mark), grandfather of Daxson, Barek, Shannara and Remington. He was the brother of Marcel (Frances), late Gaston, late Solange, late Theresa, late Edmond, late Jeannine, late Donald, Rita, late Aline, late Bibianne, Peter (Mary), Denis (Jeanine), Leonard and Denise (Jack). Lucien will also be sadly missed by his dear friends Brenda, Loreen and Teddy, sister and brother-in-law Dale and Gary, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also predeceased by his parents Louis and Malvina.
From early age Lucien worked on the family farm alongside with his siblings, in the spring 1942 he got his first job in construction with Curran & Briggs in Hearst driving a 1941 Ford three ton truck. Later that year Lucien and his brother Marcel started working together as the Labelle Brothers and together they invented The Clam or Twin Grapple, it was acclaimed across the forest industry as a truly significant invention. Lucien was well known for his particular expertise in mechanics, he drove trucks, operated equipment and later went on to run the shop MJ Labelle Co Ltd and managed the equipment. He will be fondly remembered for his passions towards the outdoors, cottage life, flying his own plane. He had deep sense of devotion towards his entire family.
Later in the spring a Funeral Mass of Christian’s burial will be celebrated in memory of Audrey (2016) and Lucien (2019) at the Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church in Cochrane and the interment will follow at the Cochrane Catholic Cemetery.
