Lottie Bernice Lloy 19292018

Lottie Bernice Lloy
1929-2018
We regret to announce the passing of
Lottie Bernice (Halliday) Lloy of
Collingwood and Williamsdale, Saturday December 8 in the CRHCC
surrounded by her loving family, just one week after celebrating with
nearly 40 of us for the annual Lloy family Christmas. She
was the daughter of Avery and Marie (Lewis) Halliday and was the last
surviving member of her family, being the eldest of five
siblings.
She was educated at the Normal College
in Truro and worked for a time as a teacher until she met the love of
her life Spurgeon Levi Lloy. She went from the classroom and
followed her husband to many of the logging camps at the time working
as a cook and raising three young children. They moved to Williamsdale with
a family of three, and added six more, all in the span of 25
years. Although
there were 9 of us, she made us all feel very special. She was the best mom
ever! Lottie
was very active in her community, with the UCWs of Millvale and
Collingwood, the Eastern Star, and the Just Friends group. As well, many a Saturday night
was spent dancing at one of the many community halls in the area,
usually followed by a kitchen party in their home on the mountain in
Williamsdale.
After losing Spurgeon in 1998, Lottie
moved to a new home in Collingwood, and developed a bit of a travel
bug, touring throughout the States and much of Canada. She was an avid quilter, and
enjoyed knitting as well as reading everything from the Canada Reads
contenders to her favorite author Maeve Binchy. But the grandchildren and great
grandchildren will remember her for being the supreme architect of
ginger bread houses.
From her years in the camps to just this
past weekend, Lottie was an amazing cook, feeding Spurgeon’s
co-workers or any planned or un-announced guest: there was always an
extra plate available.
Lottie was predeceased by her parents,
siblings Andy, David, Una and Della; sons Phillip, Andrew and just
recently Pat; and her beloved Spurgeon. She is survived by her children
Heather (Wayne), Ellen (Billy), Sharon (Bud), Joy (Brian), Roger
(Cecile) and Tracey, daughter-in-law Faye; grandchildren Tammy
(Patrick), Jennifer (Ricky), Jason (Stephanie), Sherman (Corinna),
Leonard (Julie), Dianne, Kenny (Kristen), Laura, Sarah, Paige, Emma,
Holly and Samantha (Marcus); great grandchildren Kyle, Grace, Cole,
Reese, Alex, Sidney, Oscar, Oliver, Abigail (Sander), Dustin, Celest,
Calvin, Hannah, Brandon, Payton and Oakley; two great great
grandchildren Hendric and Hazen.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water St.,
Oxford, NS (902-447-2167) from where visitation will be held on
Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm. Lottie’s funeral service will
