Obituary of Leonard Albert Bliss
It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Len. Loving husband and best friend of Eileen. Devoted father to Martin (Janice), Michelle (Brian Bell), Mary (Chris Hickey), Tony (Lynn) and Richard (Susan). Grandfather to Taylor, Brooke, Caitlyn, Hayden, Jansen, Sydney, Garrett, Madeline, Connor, Andrew, Ben and Trevor. Len was born and raised in London, England where he is survived by his three brothers Dennis, Alan and Victor. Predeceased by his parents Reginald and Emily, brothers Laurie and ‘Boy’ and sisters Maisie and Patricia. Len met Eileen and after several trips back and forth to Ireland, they then lived in Es, England before settling in Canada close to her sister Marie and brother in law Terry MacDonald. Len worked for General Motors for 27 years as a skilled Pattern Maker. They loved to travel and spend their summers in Bayfield. He was happiest in his wood working shop or gardening. Len was a resident of Henley Place where he was well cared for by all staff- especially Suja, Tracey, Irene, Tara and David while dealing with severe Parkinson’s. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street, on Wednesday March 13, 2019 from 6-8 o’clock. Prayers will be held on Wednesday evening at 6 o’clock. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, 377 Oakland Avenue, on Thursday morning March 14, 2019 at 11 o’clock. Private family interment to follow. Those wishing to make a donation in Len’s name, please consider The Parkinson’s Society.
